In Home Sessions
Well look at me go, the family photographer is now blogging! I might be channeling my inner 16 year old self, but I’m hoping these posts will have a bit more substance than my wordpress website from 2004 talking about the latest punk music I was listening to.
I digress. Let’s get into it.
Let’s talk in home sessions!
If you follow me on instagram, you’ll have already gotten a little bit on this.
I feel like in home sessions are so underrated! The amount of folks I chat with that either were nervous to do in home sessions, or never even thought about it is wild.
In home sessions are so great for 1000 reasons, but I’ll narrow it down to my favourites.
You are in your space. I can’t tell you how much more at ease people are in their own spaces. You get to wake up, get ready, and then poof! I appear at your door ready to capture memories.
Your kids are comfortable. When we do a session in your home, your kids are in their familiar space too. Their toys are there, their snacks are there, and they don’t need to be nervous being in a different space.
Beats the cold. Let’s be honest, even with the mild winter we’ve been having, most of us would rather be where the thermostat is above 20 degrees.
You can include sentimental items. Do you feed your baby in a chair that’s been in your family for generations? Maybe you have a gallery wall you want to be the backdrop?
And finally. The Pets! This one can go both ways. Pets are always invited to our sessions, regardless of whether they are inside or out, but some pets can only be at home. This gives you a chance to include the fur, feathers or fins of the family.
I could go on and on, but you get the idea.
I can promise you, the authenticity of in home sessions cannot be recreated. So were you on the fence when we started? Have I changed your mind?
Photography doesn’t have to have a reason. We don’t need a wedding, birthday, or new baby to take photos.
Sometimes the most beautiful moments are taken on just a normal day.
